Friday May 24, 2024
Federal Member for Nicholls, Sam Birrell MP, has secured more than $26 million for Nicholls for two critical projects in Seymour and Echuca.
$15 million in Federal funding will go towards the Seymour Community Wellbeing Hub, a life
changing project Mr Birrell has long advocated for.
“The Coalition committed to this project at the 2022 Federal election and I am delighted to see this
project get the funding it deserves,” Mr Birrell said.
“I have worked with Mitchell Shire and various stakeholders in advocating for this project, which
will see up to 10,000 people access to integrated health and mental health support.
“It will provide access to desperately needed services for the people of Seymour and includes
integrated family violence support, veterans support, employment and education services.
“It is exciting to see what can be achieved when organisations form partnerships and work
together for a common goal,” Mr Birrell said.
$11,356,067 has been awarded to Campaspe Shire Council to upgrade facilities at Echuca’s Victoria
Park.
Mr Birrell said the project would support the future needs of the community.
“This project will redevelop the Victoria Park complex into a new multi-purpose community centre
for a range of groups who use the facility,” Mr Birrell said.
“The facility will also double in times of disaster and transfer into an emergency relief centre.
The funding is part of the Federal Government’s Growing Regions Program and Mr Birrell said he
looked forward to seeing the projects come to fruition.
