An elected Coalition Government will invest $500,000 to support the construction of a new toilet block at the Stanhope Recreation Reserve, helping to deliver modern, accessible change facilities for netball players and the local community.
Federal member for Nicholls Sam Birrell said the funding would ensure women and girls have appropriate change rooms for matches and training.
“I have trained with football and netball clubs across the electorate and so many facilities are not fit for purpose, especially with the growth in female participation,” Mr Birrell said.
“Netballers playing at Stanhope deserve to have proper change rooms including showers and toilets.”
Stanhope Football Netball Club and the Recreation Reserve Committee sought funding though Labor’s Play Our Way grant program but were unsuccessful.
“Under a Coalition government this commitment will fund a modular change facility that will address the immediate needs for the community. It will also support the staged redevelopment proposed in the master plan for the precinct.
“A modular building can easily be connected to any future clubroom development. There is a huge shortfall of appropriate change facilities across Australia, and I believe we need to embrace different building methods to meet the demand while keeping facilities as affordable as possible.
“So many sporting clubs are crying out for updated or new change facilities and only a future Coalition Government has a plan to invest in local sporting infrastructure and get Australia back on track.”
