Projects To Remember Our Heroes

Federal Member for Nicholls, Mr Sam Birrell MP, has welcomed nearly $30,000 in Federal funding to support commemorative projects across Nicholls.

The Saluting Their Service Grant program supports grassroots projects which honour the service and sacrifices of Australia’s service personnel in wars, conflicts and peace operations, as well as their families.

Mr Birrell said the funding will support a range of different projects and upgrades.

“This funding will produce meaningful projects which will allow people to remember and understand the service and sacrifices of Australia’s heroes,” Mr Birrell said.

“Locally, this funding will also help contribute to educating future generations about Australia’s wartime history.

“I commend the passion and efforts of these groups in developing projects which allow local communities to come together and honour our heroic men and women,” he said.

Mr Birrell encouraged community organisations, councils and schools to apply for the next round of the Saluting Their Service Commemorative grants program.

Applications are open for the next round of the grants which supports projects that promote appreciation and understanding of the experiences of service and the roles that those who served have played, or to preserve and or provide access to information about Australia’s wartime heritage.

2 categories of grants are available under the program:

Community Grants up to a maximum of $10,000 are available for local, community-based projects and activities.

Grants between $10,001 and $150,000 are available for major commemorative projects and activities that are significant from a national, state, territory and/or regional perspective.
